The Master said, 'Not to lower their will or to disgrace their persons, such were Boyi and Shuqi!' He also said of Liu Xiahui and Shao Lian, 'They lowered their will and disgraced their persons, but their words were according to the rules of propriety, and their actions were according to the considerations of prudence. That is all.' Of Yuzhong and Yiyi, he said, 'They lived in retirement and spoke freely, but they were pure in their persons and moderate in their actions.
